There is a Lithuanian legend regarding the cheese which says it was first made by a giant called Džiugas to celebrate his marriage. Not surprisingly for a giant’s cheese, it is given a generous amount of time to mature and develop its distinctive flavour. In fact it is rumoured to give strength and joy to all who eat it.
